Britney Spears is one of the most successful artists in pop history. Spanning her 6 multi-platinum albums, the Grammy Award winning performer has sold over 100 million records worldwide and is ranked in the top 10 best selling music artists of all time in the U.S. Rolling Stone magazine wrote: "One of the most controversial and successful female vocalists of the 21st century," she "spearheaded the rise of post-millennial teen pop ... [early on] Spears cultivated a mixture of innocence and experience that broke the bank."
The former "Mouseketeer" rose to fame in 1999 at sixteen years old after signing to Jive records. Her debut album...Baby One More Time was an overnight success. It reached #1 in 15 countries and was certified x14 platinum by the RIAA. Following Baby One More Time, Spears went on to release 5 more multi-platinum albums: Oops...I Did It Again, Britney, In The Zone, Blackout, Circus and Femme Fatale, and she even found time to star in the 2001 hit film Crossroads.
Throughout her career, Spears has recieved over 200 awards from more than 350 nominations making her one of the most awarded artists of all time. Award wins include: a Grammy award, American Music Award, European Music Award and various worldwide MTV Music Video awards (most recently "Track of the Decade" at MTV UK awards for "Toxic").
Looking back at Spears' remarkable achievements over the last 15 years, it is almost impossible to think about the pop world without her in it. From the not-so-innocent school-girl, to pop vixen, and more recently, to motherhood and maturity, one can only wonder where Britney will take us next. Britneys 7th studio album, Femme Fatale was released in March 2011 through Jive records.
